In an industry that often values speed over substance, Orvi has taken a different route. Founded in 2014 by Sanjeev Aggarwal, the Jaipur-based brand set out with a clear focus—to preserve traditional Indian craftsmanship and reintroduce it through a lens of modern relevance. Orvi, which means Mother Earth, is a name that reflects the brand’s core values. It stands for respect toward natural materials, skill-based processes, and the cultural knowledge passed down through generations. The goal is not to replicate the past, but to build a functional and scalable system where traditional techniques are part of modern design solutions.

Unlike most design brands that depend on external collaborations, Orvi operates through its own skilled workforce. Every product is developed in-house by artisans who have been trained and supported by the company. A large number of these artisans are women who bring focus, precision, and consistency to every process. From carving stone to assembling glass mosaics, each artisan is responsible for their segment of work. The studio prioritizes attention to detail and does not rush production. It is a system where output is measured by quality, not speed.

Orvi integrates modern technology not to reduce human involvement but to improve accuracy and expand creative possibilities. Their Jaipur facility includes CNC routers, water jet machines, and laser cutters, which are used in tandem with handcrafting methods. This allows the team to work on technically complex projects while maintaining the physical involvement of skilled makers. Collections like Liquid Metal and Brisé are built using this method. Metals are fused with stone and glass mosaics are assembled with accuracy, showing how traditional materials can be adapted with current tools. The brand takes material behavior seriously. Whether it is a carved sandstone wall or a textured panel, the output is designed to contribute to spatial experience. Orvi focuses on how a product will function, not just how it will look.

In 2021, Orvi extended its expertise to furniture. The decision was a natural one. After years of working with materials and surfaces, creating objects for living spaces was a practical next step. The furniture line includes tables, consoles, and decor pieces that carry the same material vocabulary as their surfaces. These are built internally, ensuring that design, production, and finishing stay under the same roof. The furniture is not designed as a separate category but as a continuation of their core approach.

All of this is backed by the Orvi Foundation. It provides artisans with training, equipment access, and fair compensation. The foundation is structured to support long-term livelihoods, especially for women. It is not a charity model. It is part of the business. At Orvi, artisans are not treated as support staff. They are essential to the brand’s identity and production. The result is a system that preserves craft through structure, skill, and shared value.

FURNITURE, BUT MAKE IT ORVI
Their tables wear copper like jewelry. If “statement piece” had a job description, this would be it.

INNOVATION, WITH A SIDE OF LIMESTONE
If you think tradition and tech can’t share a table, you haven’t seen a laser cutter carve a Mughal arch.

SURFACE LEVEL? HARDLY.
What looks like decor is actually technique, research, material science, and one artisan’s entire afternoon.

BRING YOUR OWN BLUEPRINT.
Orvi doesn’t follow trends—they solve spatial problems. If you know what you need, they’ll make it tactile.

TOOLBOX CHECK
