Gaurav Wadhwa didn’t need an office. He needed a space that works hard but never feels like work. No glass partitions, no fluorescent lighting, no boardroom energy. The brief was simple. A space that functions as a workspace but carries the warmth and indulgence of a home. The client, Gaurav Wadhwa, co-founder of Theos, wanted a well-designed, functional zone that was not transactional. No corporate language, no commercial repetition. It had to be personal, precise, and character driven.
The site was built from scratch. Every element was made to order. No catalogue purchases, no standard fixtures. The ceiling carries a hand drawn map mural. The coffee table was developed as a giant ceramic teacup with a biscuit shaped insert. The floor tiles were designed with custom typography celebrating cooking and pastry references. The wallpaper was created from old magazine sheets. None of this was for decorative effect. Each piece was conceptualised based on the user’s lifestyle.
The material palette was curated around function and context. The layout includes a formal desk, bar like seating, lounge area, dining space, powder room, and reading corner. All integrated into one continuous visual and spatial narrative. Cane and leather chairs with brass detailing were custom built. Lighting includes a mix of pendant and track systems. The powder room carries a carved basin in stone, curved mirror, patterned flooring, and a cage style chandelier. The cabinetry and storage remain seamless within the wall structure.
No stylistic noise. Only clear execution. The layout avoids dead zones. Every corner is functional. There is no visual clutter or placeholder decor. Every item on site has a defined use or story.
Gaurav Wadhwa did not interfere with the creative process. He visited the site after two months of execution. The trust was clear. The collaboration was built on mutual understanding.
ABOUT THE CLIENT: GAURAV WADHWA
Gaurav Wadhwa is the co-founder of Theos, a premium patisserie and bakery brand based in NCR. He is known for his attention to detail, operational clarity, and business precision. Theos has scaled consistently under his leadership while maintaining high standards in quality and customer experience. He is deeply involved in the brand’s design, packaging, and product development. This workspace was an extension of his personal approach to work, private, functional, and detail oriented.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER: VARIJA BAJAJ
Varija Bajaj is an interdisciplinary designer and founder of Varija Home and Varija Design Studio. She began her career in fashion with a focus on Indo Western silhouettes and later transitioned into interiors. Her academic background is in Philosophy, Advertising, and Management from the UK. She does not hold a formal degree in architecture or interior design.
Her interior work is known for its clarity, human centric lens, and functional inclusivity. She entered interiors in 2015 with a focus on decor and began full scale architectural projects by 2016. Her work challenges conventional design narratives, especially in the context of accessibility. In 2022, the Ministry of Textiles approved her curriculum on inclusive clothing as a research subject. She currently works with over 35 design institutions across India.
Her approach is direct. She designs based on real use cases, mobility issues, accessibility gaps, generational needs, not just trend boards. Her projects reflect cultural relevance, individual context, and functional precision.

This is a functional space developed as a lifestyle extension. Not designed to impress, but to reflect. It carries a strong identity without noise. It uses custom elements without forcing novelty. It is proof that design does not need to be loud to be effective. It needs to be accurate.
